pianosommer
Saturday, 09/11/2021 7:30 p.m. Ev. St. Ulrich's Church
Four piano virtuosos in one evening: Joja Wendt, the classic-jazz-pop all-rounder, Axel Zwingenberger, the boogie-woogie veteran, Martin Tingvall, the jazz musician, and Sebastian Knauer, a purely classically trained pianist.
Each pianist has his own space, and unusual couples come together again and again at the piano: the classical virtuoso plays with the boogie woogie master, the jazz pianist leads with colored harmonies over to the blues and together an improvisation is created. Sometimes the piano becomes four hands - and with two grand pianos even eight hands! - played, sometimes the pianists take turns during the piece and give the piano bench free for the next one. An evening full of surprises and musical colors.
Sebastian Knauer, a virtuoso with a determined stage presence, has established himself with the highest technical finesse and musicality as one of the few Germans despite the enormous competition in the international concert business. In 2017 he was awarded the Echo Klassik.
Martin Tingvall, three-time Echo Jazz Prize winner, composed hits for Tatort and Udo Lindenberg's comeback with great success and has made a name for himself with his captivating melodic and energetic jazz style, with which he elicits unheard colors from his instrument.
Joja Wendtstarted out as a lover of old jazz music and has continuously expanded his repertoire to include many other musical genres. The winner of the Louis Armstrong Prize earned his great international success with dazzling technique, with virtuoso interpretations and, last but not least, as a charismatic presenter of his very own music.
Axel Zwingenbergerhas been a highly specialized world market leader in boogie-woogie for several decades. It stands for music born from the keyboard. With enormous drive and a feeling for creating atmosphere, he represents the peak of the European boogie-woogie renaissance.
